Piano Academy addresses these pain points by user friendly mobile app, using a note recognition technology to deliver an intuitive, fun and affordable learning experience.

Accessible learning - Piano Academy caters to learners of all levels, providing structured courses ranging from fundamentals to advanced techniques. Users can access interactive lessons tailored to their skill level, allowing for a personalized learning journey.
Song library - We've curated a comprehensive songbook library featuring music suitable for all skill levels. Our dedicated content team, comprised of talented musicians, meticulously crafted each song within the library.
Subscription model - Piano Academy offers various subscription plans, allowing users to choose the option that best suits their needs and budget.
This monetization strategy ensures sustainable revenue generation for the app.

As the design lead my mission was to create an app that is delightful to use as it is effective.
From crafting the easy-to-use UI to collaborating with our team, every step of the journey has been guided by a passion for making music education accessible and enjoyable to all.

Played a major role in producing content for the lessons, ensuring high quality and relevance to users' needs.
Designed the UI to create a visually appealing and user-friendly experience.
Created animations to enhance the interactivity and adding gamification to the app.
Developed the brand look and feel to establish a cohesive and recognizable identity.
Worked on app store optimization to enhance the visibility and discoverability of the app on app stores.
Supported the marketing department by providing necessary assets, including static and video ads, to promote the app effectively.

The player
"The Player" component is apps' central feature.
It works as a digital sheet music, basically showing notes moving across a timeline from right to left.
Users play these notes on their piano keys when they reach a marker called the "hit line." This feature makes learning piano feel like playing along with sheet music in real-time.

Putting a lot of notes in small limited area was a tough challenge.

Our development team dedicated significant effort to creating the cornerstone feature upon which the entire app revolves.
Leveraging machine learning technology, the app can actively listen and filter out unwanted sounds in real-time, while accurately identifying the notes played by the user and providing immediate feedback.
This functionality is pivotal in guiding users through their learning journey, allowing them to gauge their progress and correct mistakes on the spot.

One of the biggest challenges I faced as a designer for this app was its landscape orientation.
Unlike the majority of apps, which are in portrait mode, this presented difficulties in finding inspiration and solutions.
It required innovative thinking to adapt to this unique design requirement.

Lessons
The piano lessons were made by our own real piano instructors. They wrote down the entire syllabus and made sure it's easy to follow. In those lessons users will enjoy videos, games, quizzes, and practice exercises. It's all designed to be fun and simple, so users can improve their piano skills at their own pace.

To make it easier, we tested lots of different ways with A/B testing. We put a lot of work into making the process better, focusing on what users need and what helps our business goals.
